Dr Albrecht Glatzle DEBUNKED? Meat Industry Farmer.

About Dr Albrecht Glatzle’s associations with the Livestock Meat Industry.

In late-2018 an article appeared that’s titled “New Research: Methane Emissions From Livestock Have No Detectable Effect On The Climate.” It’s credited to Dr. Albrecht Glatzle. It was published on the ClimateChangeDispatch website. Related promotional articles have appeared on the pro-meat industry websites BeefMagazine and NoTricksZone.

It appears from the below accounts that Dr Albrecht Glatzle is a farmer of livestock and has a long association with meat industry organisations.

Dr Albrecht Glatzle – a Meat Industry Puppet?

An article co-authored by Glatzle is titled “The Battle for our Grasslands and Livestock.” It credits him as “Agronomist and grazier, Paraguay”. [1] Google defines grazier as “a person who rears or fattens cattle or sheep for market.”

Another source states Glatzle is “a Fellow of the Tropical Grassland Society of Australia Inc.” [2] It was “formed in 1963 to promote the practical application of research information on pasture improvement …” [3]
In other words its purpose is to promote the profits of the meat industry which is responsible for around 90% of deforestation and related land clearing in Australia.
The WWF reports: “Eastern Australia deforestation pressures: Pasture creation for livestock is the dominant driver, accounting for 88 per cent of clearing of both primary and secondary forests and woodlands.” The Queensland state government reports that 93% of land clearing is done to make pasture (for the meat industry). [4]

Glatzle is also reported as being associated with the “Grassland Society of Southern Africa”. [5] About it: “The mission of the Society … management of African rangelands and pastures.” [6] Google defines rangelands as “open country used for grazing or hunting animals.”

Albrecht Glatzle also appears to be associated with the discredited Heartland Institute. [7] From a 2012 news report: “Leak exposes how Heartland Institute works to undermine climate science … thinktank keeps prominent sceptics on its payroll and relies on millions in funding from carbon industry, papers suggest … The papers indicate that discrediting established climate science remains a core mission of the organisation, which has received support from a network of wealthy individuals – including the Koch oil billionaires …” [8]

During the 1990s, the Institute worked with tobacco company Philip Morris to question the links between smoking, secondhand smoke and health risks. Philip Morris commissioned Heartland to write and distribute reports …
According to The New York Times, Heartland is “the primary American organization pushing climate change skepticism.” … Historians James Morton Turner and Andrew Isenberg describe Heartland as a leader in the “scientific misinformation campaign” against climate change.” [9]

Similarly a 2017 government report states that 93% of deforestation and related land clearing in Queensland (a large state in Australia) is done to create pasture for meat industry livestock animals. The report states: “The dominant replacement land cover class for 2015–16 was pasture (93% of total statewide woody vegetation clearing). This was consistent with results since 2012–13.”
